WellSpring Health Outreach, Inc. offers ongoing volunteer opportunities for high school and college students who are interested in healthcare, community service, and public health. Student volunteers support our vascular screening and wellness events across the DMV area (Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia) and are eligible to receive documented volunteer service hours for school requirements.
Volunteer Hours Explanation
As a registered nonprofit organization, WellSpring Health Outreach, Inc. provides official volunteer service hours for students who participate in our community health events. Volunteer hours may be used toward school service requirements, graduation requirements, honor societies, or community service programs, depending on the student’s school guidelines.
What Volunteers Will Help With
Patient registration and check-in
Event setup and breakdown
Directing participants during screenings
Assisting with paperwork and forms
General event support and organization
No medical experience is required. Training and guidance are provided on-site.
When Opportunities Are Available
Volunteer opportunities are available throughout the year and are scheduled based on upcoming screening and outreach events. Students may volunteer for individual events as they become available.
How Students Can Apply?
Students interested in volunteering should complete the Student Volunteer Application Form. Once approved, volunteers will be contacted by email when opportunities become available.

Student volunteer opportunities are open to individuals 16 years of age and older.

Volunteer Hours Documentation
Volunteer hours are documented and verified by WellSpring Health Outreach, Inc. A volunteer verification form or service log may be stamped and signed upon completion of each event.
Volunteer opportunities are subject to event availability and age requirements. All students must follow event guidelines and instructions while volunteering.

Current Opportunity
Location: MedStar Washing Hospital Center, Washington, DC
Who it’s for: High school students (at least 16yrs)
Focus: Student volunteer will spend the summer only serving in a patient comfort ambassador, patient navigator, or inpatient unit support position
Timeframe: Summer Program
Overview:
This program offers high school students the opportunity to gain early exposure to the healthcare environment serving in a patient comfort ambassador, patient navigator, or inpatient unit support position
Application details:
Submit an online volunteer application to begin the interview and selection process
Commit to one 4-hour shift per week for a minimum of 100 hours
Available shifts include:
Morning: 9am - 1pm
Afternoon: 1pm - 5pm
Evening: 5pm - 9pm
Must be at least 16yrs
Complete and pass a background check if 18 and over
Complete two rounds of tuberculosis screening or one tuberculosis blood test
Provide confirmation of receiving the following immunizations:
MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
Varicella (Chickenpox)
Tdap for Pertussis (Whooping Cough)
Attend in-person new volunteer orientation training
Complete a confidentiality agreement and dress code acknowledgment
